The report on the contract floorcovering market in Great Britain is one of a number on construction related products that are carried out by Palmer Market Research on a regular basis. The previous edition of the floorcovering report was published in 2008, but past data goes back over thirty years.
The main purposes of the report, apart from establishing product market sizes, are fourfold:
1. To set out a sector end use analysis for each of the products for the year 2009 (volume one). The point of this is that you need to know where your products are actually installed before you can carry out any realistic marketing planning.
2. To provide an objective five year forecast of the market by product; objective because it is made by an organisation outside the industry, and because of the multi-client nature of the report. The forecast itself is calculated by projecting the data from the sector end use analysis of the base year, 2009, through each year to 2014. Importantly, the assumptions on which these are based are set out in the report and can thus be varied by subscribers over time in the light of actual events. This is of crucial importance at a time when there are more risks to the forecast than ever (volume one).
3. An attitude survey of the main suppliers of contract carpet and resilient floorcoverings where competitor comparisons can be made (volume two).
4. An analysis of the decision making process for contract floorcoverings (volume two).
And. for the first time there is also a section on environmental issues (volume two).
